Mom For a Day!

Saturday, April 25, 2015 No comments
On Friday I was able to take a personal day and just "be mom" for the day!
The kids always ask me to take them to school (instead of riding the bus in) so I was finally able to! Once we got to school I helped in Mason's class and got to read with students! A little while later I was able to help in Kylie's class with Daily 5 (writing conferences) and flex reading groups!

Next up...recess with Kylie, lunch with Kylie and lunch with Mason!

I wrapped up the day by reading a book to Mason's class!

It was such a fun day and I'm so glad I was able to take a personal day to do it!! I really should do that more often!

What have you done for yourself recently?

So I've realized that I've not been the best at blogging in 2015!!  Yikes!  I really need to do better with that!  I do have a long list of blog posts I'd like to write...I just need to find the time!

So, here's to a better start at blogging this year - I'm linking up with Farley at Oh Boy 4th Grade and her Currently -

As I'm sitting here blogging a little this evening, my daughter is jammin' out to "Neon Lights" by Demi Lavato on Pandora!  My son is brushing my hair (and it feels sooo good!)

I'm loving Cross Fit!  It's been a fun adventure and it feels so great to be back to working out regularly again - 4-5 days a week!  I go to CrossFit Chanhassen and it's really become a "family" of great friends to work out with!

I'm thinking about sleep - {see above} - getting up at 4:30 a.m. to go to the gym leaves me awfully tired at the end of the day!

And keeping in line with the 2 above comments, I'm wanting to curl up under the covers and watch "The Good Wife!"  I'm loving this show and am finally on Season 4 on Xfinity!!  Have you watched it?  What's one of your favorite flix?

I'm needing Spring Break!  The end of March just can't come soon enough!  The upside is - with professional development days and teacher workshop days - every week is a 4 day week with kiddos between now and Spring Break!  Aside from having to write a lot of sub plans over the next few weeks, it should be pretty good!

Pageant Title:  This one was a tricky one - and seeing as how I'm incredibly tired...I asked my son (age 7) what I should have as a pageant title and here's how the conversation went...
Me:  What should I have as a pageant title?
Mason:  What's that?
Me:  It's a fancy name if I was in a fancy fashion show.
Mason:  Oh - Queen Elizabeth.  You're like the queen because I'm playing with your hair.

haha!  I love him!  :)

What are you up to these days?  I love it when you leave me a few comments - it gives me motivation to keep on typing...  Okay, it's time for bed now!  Sweet dreams, folks!

What I Got in my 6th Stitch Fix!!

Tuesday, February 17, 2015 No comments
I got my 6th "Fix" last week!

What is StitchFix you ask?  It's an online styling service that you can order clothing and accessories from.  You sign up online at StitchFix and complete an online style survey, sharing your likes and dislikes in regards to fashion!  Then you register for your first "Fix" and there is a $20 styling fee.  However, if you purchase anything that they send you, your $20 goes towards your purchase as a credit.  Your stylist will choose 5 items to send you based on your style survey (so be very honest!!).  I specifically mentioned I was not interested in accessories like earrings, necklaces, and purses, so I've only received clothes to date.

The best part, you have 3 days to try it all on, decide if you like it and want to keep it!  If you choose to send it back, there's a pre-paid mailing envelope enclosed!  If you choose to keep all 5 items, you get a 25% discount!  That's almost like buying 4 items and getting your 5th free!

Did I mention that each piece comes with a cute "style card?"  I love this aspect because it gives me ideas of different ways to wear the clothing - add a jean jacket to the dress, wear the blouse with a skirt to dress it up or jeans to dress it down, and so on!

Now, let's take a look at what I received:

Market & Spruce:  Corinna Striped Dolman Top
$48.00
My Thoughts:  I loved the fit, color and style!  I kept it!
It works great with skinny jeans or leggings and boots for a fun but comfortable look!

Renee C:  Sandra Distressed Striped Sweater
$68.00
My Thoughts:  I loved the fit, color and style!  I paired it with skinny jeans and some cute heels.  I love the unique sides - they're really threads that you can "poke your hand through" but I just wear a black tank underneath to make sure I don't accidentally show any skin!  I kept it!

Loveappella:  Trent Dolman Knit Top
$58.00
My Thoughts: I'm not so sure on this one - I don't care for the cut - the armpits come too low and it just doesn't do anything for my body style.  I decided to keep it because with the Buy all 5, Receive 25% discount - it was free!  :)

Staccato:  Marabell Open Cardigan
$48.00
My Thoughts:  I love how comfy, cozy this cute cardigan is!  It can be dressed up or down with dress pants and a scarf or blue jeans!  I kept it!

41Hawthorn:  Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse
$48.00
My Thoughts:  I love this top as it's great for winter and spring!  It is long enough that I feel comfortable wearing it with leggings or skinny jeans!  I kept it!

All in all, I'm ecstatic with this fix!  I can't believe how my stylist can pick out such great items every time that I absolutely fall in LOVE with!!  One thing I've learned from my 6 fixes is to be very honest when giving your feedback to your stylist at checkout!  They listen and it only helps to make your next fix that much better!

Don't forget, if you want to sign up for STITCH FIX to use my referral link!
Thanks!!

Merry Christmas!

Some of my favorite memories from school were making a fun craft and bringing it home to "surprise" my parents for the holidays!

This year my own children came home with that spark in their eyes and they could barely contain their excitement!  It was killing them to wait until Christmas day for John and I to open our homemade gifts from them!  So, on Christmas Eve we gave in and were delighted to find fun new ornaments to hang on the tree!

Similar to that, I wanted my students to have something special they could take home to give their parents!  So, after a bit of searching through Pinterest, I found this fun craft:

The students each used their own thumbprint to make adorable little reindeer ornaments!  After we let them dry they were packaged up and ready to take home to someone special!

Merry Christmas!

Elf on the Shelf Adventures

Friday, December 19, 2014 No comments
This year I had an Elf on the Shelf at home and at school!  Boy did I have my hands full!  I had to remember to move these guys ~ ahem - I mean make sure they found new spots when they flew back each morning!

My kids at home and school just loved their elves!  At school, the students named the elf Peppermint.  At home, our elf was named Mack - a few years ago when he made his first appearance!

Check out some of the antics of Mack!!  Maybe it will provide you with some inspiration next year!
{Mack finished up some needed painting on our train tunnels for the track that runs around the Christmas tree!  Why can't he finish laundry while he's here, too?}

{Mack got a bit of a sugar high as he was sipping on some syrup!}

{Mack made a fun swing out of yarn and a toilet paper tube!}

{He decided to have a little fun and toilet paper the tree!}

{This was Mason's favorite - finding Mack in his Lego Chima Castle!}

{Mack must have gone ice skating at the North Pole!}

{Mack decided to start opening some of Mason's birthday presents!!  Luckily he didn't get very far!}

{Mack took a nap in the silverware drawer!}

{Uh Oh!  He got stuck in the blender!!  After a couple of days we had to take the lid off so he could get out!}

{Looks like Mack found a lady friend!}

{Mack was just hanging out in Bandit's stocking!}

Christmas Wishes...

 This Christmas my own kids were totally in love with our Elf on the Shelf!  They truly, honestly believed in him!  To the point that one day, when Mack had not moved in 3 days, Kylie was crying because she was afraid that he hadn't been able to go visit Santa!!

This year the kids each wrote a letter to Mack to take to Santa.  They wanted to be sure that Santa knew exactly what they wanted for Christmas!  They were so adorable!!  (p.s. I saved them!!)
