Does your child like to practice their spelling words?
We have found some fun ways to practice our spelling words and they are a hit with the kids!!

Kylie practicing her spelling words with sidewalk chalk.

Sometimes writing out words or spelling them orally can be "boring" to kids.  I think it is important to find ways to make learning fun and keep the kids engaged!  Here is a list of ideas to help your students "spell smarter!"

* Write your words with sidewalk chalk.
* Type out the words using the keypad on an old phone (cell or house).
* Spread some shaving cream on the counter and let them spell away!
* Write them on paper using smelly markers.
* Use Scrabble Cheese Its to spell out your words.
* Have them give a "practice spelling test" to their stuffed animals (they can help the animals do the writing).
* Use wiki sticks to form the letters and spell the words.
* Form the words with Play-Doh.
* Fill a gallon Ziploc bag with dish soap and have the kids use their pointer finger to draw out each of the letters that form the word.
